VEGAN YAKITORI

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu pressed and cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup sake
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger minced
  • 1/4 cup scallions chopped

Instructions

  • Soak skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and chopped scallions. Mix well to combine.
  • Thread the tofu cubes onto the skewers.
  • Brush the marinade onto the tofu skewers, making sure to coat all sides.
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • Place the skewers on the grill or grill pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, brushing with additional marinade as needed.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve hot.
