Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups yam flour
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, add the yam flour and salt. Gradually add water while stirring continuously to form a smooth paste.
  • Pour the mixture into a large pot and place it on the stove over medium heat.
  • Stir the mixture continuously with a wooden spoon or spatula to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Cook the mixture for about 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously until it thickens and becomes a stretchy dough-like consistency.
  • Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes to cook the yam flour thoroughly.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and transfer the pounded yam to a serving dish.
  • Serve the Nigerian Pounded Yam hot with your favorite Nigerian soup or stew.
