Vegan Tacos

Tacos are one of my favorite foods, so when I went vegan, finding a great taco recipe that would fit my lifestyle was a top priority. Luckily, this one fits the bill and then some (believe me, it’s gone through a lot of tweaks to get here).

Tacos, the beloved hand-held bundles of joy, have long been a go-to comfort food for many. Fortunately, going vegan doesn’t mean you have to bid farewell to this delicious treat. In this post, we’ll introduce you to a mouthwatering vegan taco recipe, explore a variety of delectable toppings and sauces, and share tips on how to perfectly warm your tortillas for the ultimate taco experience.

Toppings for Vegan Tacos

Elevate your vegan taco game with an array of mouthwatering toppings. Here are some popular options:

    1. Avocado Slices: Creamy and rich, avocados add a luxurious texture to your tacos.
    2. Shredded Lettuce or Cabbage: Crispy and refreshing, these add a delightful crunch.
    3. Salsa: Fresh salsa or pico de gallo provides a burst of tangy flavor.
    4. Pickled Jalapeños: For those who like it spicy, these are a must-try.
    5. Vegan Cheese: Choose from a variety of plant-based cheeses for a melty, cheesy experience.

Vegan Taco Sauces

Don’t forget to drizzle your vegan tacos with some mouthwatering sauces. Here are a few vegan-friendly options:

    1. Vegan Sour Cream: Creamy, tangy, and dairy-free.
    2. Guacamole: A classic avocado-based dip that pairs perfectly with tacos.
    3. Hot Sauce: Add a kick to your tacos with your favorite vegan hot sauce.
    4. Lime Crema: Combine vegan yogurt or cashew cream with lime juice, garlic, and salt for a zesty sauce.

Tips for Warming Tortillas

Warming your tortillas properly can make or break your vegan taco experience. Here are some tips:

    1. Dry Skillet: Heat a dry skillet over medium heat and warm each tortilla for about 20-30 seconds on each side until they are pliable and slightly toasted.
    2. Microwave with Damp Paper Towel: Wrap a stack of tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave for about 30 seconds. This method keeps them moist and prevents them from becoming brittle.
    3. Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wrap a stack of tortillas in aluminum foil and warm them for about 10 minutes.

Vegan Tacos

This is a colorful and flavorful recipe that is all about fresh ingredients. For best results, buy (or better yet, make) a good, fresh tortilla. And be sure to warm the tortilla up before serving. Also, I added a jalapeno because I love my tacos spicy, but feel free to leave it out if you’re not a chili-head like I am (don’t worry, we can still be friends).
